If you are sending out, say 50-200, now and then, you wouldn't need a professional mailer. But, check out all your options before you get a postage meter. The postage meters can become expensive propositions, and may not serve you well. If your mail exceeds 500 pieces, you may benefit from the savings in postage costs that come from pre-sorting the mail as specified by the USPS. At the very least, for small quantity mail (500-2000), you may be able to avoid the manual work for the price of postage. But, don't underestimate the USPS regulations and try to do it yourself unless you are prepared for a long wait in the hot sun at a loading dock.
